French Polynesia

It is no surprise that visiting French Polynesia is on many people’s bucket list. It consists of over 110 tropical islands in the South Pacific Ocean, covering a massive area. The islands are famously known for their turquoise lagoons, mountain peaks, and overwater bungalows.

Despite being an expensive destination due to its remote location, traveling to the islands of French Polynesia is extremely popular, mostly among honeymooners.

Bora Bora is the first island that comes to mind when you hear about French Polynesia. This island is a top-notch tropical paradise filled with luxurious bungalows, offering the most picturesque scenery ever. All you have to do here is relax on a white powdery beach or in your fancy bungalow, sip a cocktail, and get yourself in the water.

The largest island of French Polynesia, Tahiti is the place to feel the local vibes and learn about their culture. You can wander around the capital city of Papeete, visit the Museum of Tahiti and the Islands, and try local foods at Papeete Market.

You should explore the stunning nature in Tahiti by hiking the Fautaua and Faarumai waterfalls and visiting the Vaipahi and Harrison Smith Botanical Gardens.

Take a ferry to Tahiti’s sister island Moorea and explore one of the many hiking trails as the island has an incredibly lush landscape and dramatic mountain views. Moorea also has so many breathtaking beaches to enjoy, including the popular Temae Public Beach.

Diving and snorkeling opportunities are amazing in French Polynesia thanks to its warm, clear waters. At Tiputa Pass in Rangiora, you can discover rich sea life such as manta rays, hammerhead sharks, and butterflyfish.

While you can go snorkeling anywhere in French Polynesia, the best spots are Huahine and Rurutu. If you are visiting the islands between July and October, make sure to see the humpback whales in Moorea, Tahiti, Rurutu.
