Egypt

Egypt has been travelers’ favorite destination for quite a long time and it still never gets old to travel to this magnificent country. While the famous pyramids may seem like a major reason to visit Egypt, there are so many things to do and places to see in the country.

There is no doubt the Pyramids of Giza is one most the most iconic landmarks in the world. The pyramids were built 4,600 years ago for different Egyptian kings (pharaohs) and they are guarded by the Sphinx. You can learn more about ancient Egyptian history at The Grand Egyptian Museum located nearby.

Visit the historic part of Cairo, known as the Islamic Cairo. The area is full of mosques, Islamic teaching schools, and monuments. Make sure to check out Al-Azhar Mosque, Salah El-Din Citadel, Sultan Hassan Mosque, Al Rifa’i Mosque, and get lost at Khan el-Khalili Market. Take a day trip from Cairo to visit Alexandria on the Mediterranean Sea.

You can discover more pyramids in Saqqara and Dahshur. Don’t miss the Djoser Pyramid, Bent Pyramid, and Red Pyramid in this area. You can easily visit these places as a day trip from Cairo.

Head down the town of Luxor by the Nile and see the Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, and the Memorial Temple of Hatshepsut. You will find another stunning temple at Abu Simbel, located way down the Nile River.

Take a cruise on the Nile between Aswan and Luxor and enjoy the chill-out atmosphere. If you want to take a break from temples, go to Sharm El-Sheikh for some relaxation on the beach.

You can do many activities in Sharm El-Sheikh including scuba diving at Thistlegorm, exploring Ras Mohammed National Park, and day trips to Saint Catherine’s Monastery, Mt. Sinai, Dahab, and Blue Hole Dive Site.
