Dominica is an island nation in the Caribbean filled with volcanic landscapes, hot springs, lush rainforests, and waterfalls. It is also known as the “Nature Isle of the Caribbean” for its untouched tropical nature. Despite its small size, there are so many things to do in Dominica.
Unlike other Caribbean islands, hanging out at the beaches are not the main attraction in Dominica because of the black sand. But you can still spend time on the beach, especially at Batibou Beach, Mero Beach, and Purple Turtle Beach.
Dominica is the best island in the Caribbean for hikers and adventurers thanks to its unspoiled nature. With 20 whale species, corals, and various fish, there are plenty of scuba diving and snorkeling spots in Dominica and the most famous one is the Champagne Reef.
Exploring the Morne Trois Pitons National Park is a major activity itself as it offers so many things to do in Dominica. This UNESCO World Heritage Site includes many beautiful lakes, waterfalls, rivers, and mini geysers.
The most popular attraction in the national park is Boiling Lake. A three-hour hike through the rainforest to see this lake is absolutely worth the trip. If you want to see the most picturesque waterfall on the island, then you should hike to Victoria Falls.
Another popular waterfall is Trafalgar Falls. You can reach these twin waterfalls after a short hike. Continue to the Wotten Waven to relax at its natural hot springs and mud ponds.
Explore the Emerald Pool and take a refreshing swim break from hiking. Discover Titou Gorge and Valley of Desolation. All located in Morne Trois Pitons National Park.
Visit Roseau, the capital of the island. It is a cool, friendly town with colorful cottages and market stalls. You can see St. Patrick’s Cathedral, visit Dominica Botanic Gardens, and go up to Morne Bruce to get panoramic views.
