Barbados is a tropical island paradise in the Caribbean. The island country is a bit isolated from its neighbors in the Atlantic Ocean, but it’s a fantastic holiday destination. While the east coast of the island is wild and lonely, the south and west coast is as vibrant as it can be.
Known as Bajans, the locals of Barbados will make your trip more pleasant and memorable because they are always super welcoming, energetic, and warm. The capital of Barbados, Bridgetown is a charming town to stroll around. You can go sightseeing the historic sites in the city and eat local food at reasonable prices.
Barbados contains 80 powdery white-sand beaches and each one is unique in its own way. You can go scuba diving on the beaches of Carlisle Bay, have the entire place for yourself at Bottom Bay Beach, go kiteboarding at Silver Sands Beach, swim in the calm waters of Brandons Beach, and relax at tourists’ and locals’ favorite Miami Beach.
Surfing is one of the most popular things to do in Barbados. The west and south coast has the best breaks, especially the South Point. But if you are an advanced surfer, make sure to check out Soup Bowl on the east coast, where the waves are heavy and the swells are big.
Food in Barbados is pretty amazing as a result of mixing the African, Indian, and Portuguese cuisines. Visiting Oistins Fish Fry is the most famous attraction in Barbados, especially on Friday nights. Here you can try the best local dishes including flying fish, mahi-mahi, and fish cakes.
You should do a rum tasting tour too since Barbados is known to be the birthplace of rum. Mount Gay and St. Nicholas Abby Rum Distilleries are the best ones to discover the country’s rum history.
