Austria makes it an excellent destination to visit all year round. Each season has something to offer from green mountain landscapes in the summer to charming Christmas markets in the winter. Rich in art, music, and culture, Austria is full of tourist attractions.
Vienna is a gorgeous city filled with fascinating architecture and grace. You’ll find many things to do in Vienna, starting with music concerts and museums.
Stroll around Stephansplatz and continue to Rathaus, see the Vienna Opera House, visit Schönbrunn and Belvedere Palaces, and explore Hundertwasser House. Make sure to try famous Viennese coffee and Sachertorte chocolate cake.
Go for more city sightseeing in Graz and Linz and discover their old towns. The cafes and art galleries are worth checking out.
Mozart’s birthplace Salzburg is quite charming and gives you a glimpse of the Alps. Hiking up to Hohensalzburg Castle is a must-do activity here. You can visit Hallstatt from Salzburg as a day trip or stay overnight there. This cute little village is perfect for relaxing and slowing down during your travels.
If you got more time, head to Innsbruck and experience Austria’s Tyrolean culture. You can do lots of outdoor activities in this town, as it’s near the breathtaking Alps. In the historic town center, you can enjoy really good food and hang out in elegant cafes.
Austria has some of the finest ski resorts in Europe, including Soelden, Kitzbühel, Ischgl, St. Anton am Arlberg, and Lech. You shouldn’t miss the opportunity to ski or snowboard if you are traveling during winter.
On the other side of the country, you can explore the beautiful Austrian wine region. The area belongs to the state of Burgenland, just outside of Vienna and it’s easily accessible. You’ll try the highest quality wines and have an amazing time touring the wineries.
